MOD Pizza, US pioneers in fast casual pizza have opened their first (of many) UK restaurants in Leeds.
MOD Co-founders Scott and Ally Svenson, who revolutionized the UK’s coffee culture with the Seattle Coffee Company in the early 1990’s, have joined Sir Charles Dunstone to bring pizza giant MOD to UK shores.
With rapid expansion plans for the UK, Gozney Ovens joined forces with the MOD team to design a custom MOD oven, specifically made to produce the perfect MOD Pizza.
“Mod have a really unique offering,” says Tom Gozney from Gozney Ovens. Making artisan- style pizzas, on demand, MOD allows customers to assemble their own pizza and salad. “Due to their “super fast” concept, they need a reliable oven that has a fast deck recovery time, whilst also meeting their ideal cook time to keep pizzas moving,” says Tom.
The MOD team trialled and tested the Gozney Oven range, and chose a custom version of the Barbican 1900, currently the largest model Gozney Ovens provides.
On their first opening night in Leeds, MOD donated 100% of pizza sales to charity Breeze, who specialise in city wide events for children and teens aged 0-19 in the Leeds area. MOD aims to support different charitable initiatives throughout the year.
MOD’s restaurant in Leeds is now open, with another opening shortly in Brighton Marina.
