Gozney Ovens are proud to supply pizza ovens to Yard Sale Pizza who are making a name for themselves across London and have recently opened their third site in Walthamstow. Yard Sale started when one of the founders, Johnnie Tate, bought a wood fired oven for his back yard from Gozney Ovens’ sister company, The Stone Bake Oven Company. After plenty of pizza parties with friends and family, Johnnie, Nick and Dan decided to expand into the pizza takeaway offering in their local area.
Starting with one of Gozney’s residential models by The Stone Bake Oven Company, the next step for the founders would naturally be the larger, commercial range by Gozney Ovens. As even their largest store seats no more than 30 people at one time, it was important for Yard Sale to choose an oven that can be installed in tight spaces and with the on-site fast assembly system, Gozney Ovens was the obvious choice.
The founders are extremely proud of their offering, paying homage to traditional roots with handmade pizzas made from double fermented dough, with a modern topping twist.
Yard Sale also create one off pizza specials by teaming up with local restaurants such as The Pastrami Calzone with Monty’s Deli. For their latest offering, they’ve teamed up with street food legends, Rola Wala to create an Indian-inspired pizza special, The Nagaland Warrior – available from Monday 3rd April to Monday 17th April.
Yard Sale opened their first shop in May 2014 and went all the way to win Time Out’s ‘Most Loved Restaurant’ in the Love London Awards in 2016 for their Clapton store.
To ensure Gozney Ovens were the right fit for Yard Sale, the founders visited the Gozney Training Kitchen to use a range of ovens, selecting the right one prior to installation. They opened their first store with one of the former, Gio 140 models and have now opted for the Classic 1500 ovens for their next two stores.
